What items are Hazardous?
In accordance with Local, State, and Federal laws and regulations, the Landfill cannot accept hazardous materials. This list is not complete and maybe outdated- it is provided by the DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT – SOLID WASTE DIVISION. Please check on their website for up to date information.
YOU MAY NOT DUMP:
- Paint thinners, solvent, latex paints or oil based paint wastes;
- Waste oils, fuels, other petroleum products, transmission/brake fluids, grease, antifreeze, batteries, or whole tires;
- Household cleaners, polish, or wax;
- Pesticide, snail bait, rat poison, insecticide, fungicide, or herbicides;
- Contaminated soil;
- Asbestos β containing floor tile, pipe/duct insulation, ceiling tile, flooring material or any other material containing asbestos.
- Medical waste;
- Liquids or sludge of any type in quantities larger than 1 gallon;
- Propane, oxygen, MAPP gas and acetylene tanks.
